Hello, I?m Kikas, owner and driver of a tuk-tuk in Lisbon. Every day, I take tourists from all over the world to discover the charms of our beautiful city. From my seat, I see Lisbon in a unique way and would like to share that experience with you.

One of my favorite routes starts in Alfama. This neighborhood is the historical heart of Lisbon, with its narrow streets and old buildings full of history. As we climb the steep streets, I tell my passengers about the tradition of fado, which was born here. We stop at the Miradouro de Santa Luzia to enjoy the stunning view over Alfama?s rooftops and the Tejo River.
Bairro Alto and Chiado: Life and Culture
From Alfama, we head to Bairro Alto, known for its vibrant nightlife and designer shops. This neighborhood has a youthful and bohemian spirit. During the day, it is calm and charming. At night, it transforms into a sea of life and energy. Then, we go down to Chiado, where I like to stop at the famous Livraria Bertrand, the oldest operating bookstore in the world. Here, my passengers can feel the literary atmosphere and maybe buy a book as a souvenir.
Heading to Belém
Another popular route is to Belém. This route is a must for those who want to dive into the history of the Portuguese Discoveries. We pass by the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery, two gems of Manueline architecture. Of course, no tour would be complete without a stop at the Pastelaria de Belém to taste the authentic pastéis de nata. Seeing the reaction of tourists tasting these delights for the first time is always a pleasure.

Driving a tuk-tuk has its advantages. We can navigate streets where cars cannot reach, especially in Lisbon?s steep hills. This allows me to take my passengers to lesser-known viewpoints where they can enjoy spectacular views away from the crowds.
