A Gastronomic Tour of Lisbon: Flavors on a Tuk-Tuk Ride

Hello, dear readers! My name is Kikas, and I have been a tuk-tuk driver in Lisbon for over 15 years. Today, I?m going to take you on a gastronomic journey through our beautiful capital, aboard my trusty three-wheeled companion.

Who said you can?t eat well while touring the city? With my tuk-tuk, I take you to the best snacks in Lisbon, stopping at the most iconic spots and the most hidden taverns.

We start our tour at the Mercado da Ribeira. Here, my clients are amazed by the variety of fresh products and can taste some freshly fried codfish cakes.

Then, we head to Alfama. In its narrow alleys, we stop at a small tavern to savor some delicious grilled sardines, accompanied by a glass of well-chilled vinho verde.

Next, we climb up to the Castelo de São Jorge. On the way, I can?t resist stopping at a traditional canned goods shop. The colorful tins are a delight for the eyes and the palate!

At Rossio, it?s time for a break with a coffee and a pastel de nata. I know a pastry shop that makes them so good even the angels weep!

In the afternoon, we head to Príncipe Real. Here, we stop at a kiosk to try the famous Lisbon ginjinha. My clients love this sour cherry liqueur served in chocolate cups.

In Chiado, we can?t miss visiting Manteigaria Silva. The smell of cheeses and cured meats is mouthwatering. I always take the opportunity to buy some slices of ham for us to snack on along the way.

We end our tour in Bairro Alto, where the taverns and restaurants are plentiful. Here, I always recommend a good plate of Bacalhau à Brás or some Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato.

And for dessert? Nothing better than a serving of homemade arroz doce at one of the oldest taverns in the city.

With my tuk-tuk, I not only take you to the best places to eat but also tell you the stories behind each dish. It?s a unique way to experience Lisbon?s gastronomy, mixing flavors, smells, and traditions.

Believe me, after this tour, you will know Lisbon through your stomach. And there?s no better way to know a city, is there?

So, who dares to embark on this gastronomic adventure on wheels?
